How Are The Pewter Tankards Manufactured?

Body

The pewter and metal tankard manufacturing is done in the three methods. All of the methods have been used for many centuries in tankard making.

Casting

This method consists the pour molten pewter into the mould. Then the metal quickly cools, and the mould can be removed. It uses the most metal and results in producing of heavy tankards. It is a more expensive method to engrave the pewter tankards for the same reason. There are also some restrictions on the cast tankard design, but these limits are not the major problem in most cases.

Sheet Working

This method consists of properly cutting sheets of cool pewter into the shape before bending to the former or mould. The join of sheet working is the hammered shut, with the other molten pewter and polished continues until it becomes invisible but no longer present physically. It is the more common method for the less expensive cups, but it is considered a good option for making pewter tankards. Under this method, the craftsman did the top work to give the thick and comfortable rim. It is a solid tankard for most people.

Spinning

It is a very traditional and fun method to make pewter tankards. They put the thick pewter disc on the lathe, and then the disc on the lathe is treated by the highly skilled craftsman. They use the high range and specialized hand tools to make the pewter into a good tankard shape. It also produces suitable tankards.
